StJudeChoirLogo-colorOur music ministry is always open to new members. If you can sing, you can join. You can sing at the Mass of your choice except the Sunday 7:30 am Mass. We have weekly practice at 7:00 pm on Thursday evenings and have a warm-up that starts 30 minutes before each Mass. Why not share your talent at Mass?

Your parish needs you! Music ministry is a special vocation. Our job is to lead the congregation in sung prayer. If you are interested in singing, please contact George Evan, Director of Sacred Music:

  • After Mass
  • At parish functions
  • At the parish office
  • By calling him at the parish office at (540) 891-7350
  • By sending an email to music@stjudechurch.us

AGE REQUIREMENTS: You must be 18 years old or older.

PARISH MESSAGE:
For those who do not know me, I am George Evans, the Director of Sacred Music here at St. Jude. I have been a parishioner since January 2004 and at that time joined the choir. I was a member of the choir until I became the Director in April 2010. During this time period I worked at a job that kept me busy about 60 hours per week. So, I know what busy is along with volunteering my time. But, I wanted to serve my parish and have been involved with choirs from a lot a churches for a long time. Today, I am asking you to join the St. Jude Choir. If you can sing we need your help. Our parish is growing and the opportunities to serve become greater. As you have noticed we have a choir at each of our Masses except the Sunday 7:30 AM Mass. Entering the Music Ministry takes some time commitment with practices and singing at Mass. We are very grateful to our current choir members who give of their time to share their musical talent.

There are many references throughout the Bible in praising the Lord with song. One of my favorite is from Saint Paul in his letter to the Ephesians from Chapter 5:

“… be filled with the Spirit, addressing one another with psalms and hymns and spiritual songs,
singing and playing to the Lord in your hearts, giving thanks always and for everything in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ to God the Father.”

This relates to our mission which is to lead the congregation in sung prayer. I hope you find it within you to share your singing talent by entering the Music Ministry to serve our parish. For more information, please see me after Mass or contact me. My contact information is in the bulletin.

Thank you.
